I am traveling to Ireland. And from what I understand, as a Canadian, I can stay there up to 3 months without a visa. I also want to go to Scotland for a month. I understand they aren't apart of the Schengen area. My question is: Does my month in Scotland count as part of my 3 months without needing a visa? thanks so much =)
Have a great trip!
The UK and Republic of Ireland operate a common travel area. In effect:
If you enter CTA via Ireland you will only get permission to stay for three months. To get more time you would need to leave the CTA and come back.
If you enter the CTA via the UK you will in general get permission to stay for six months, within which you can embed a visit to Ireland for three months.
