There are some nice trails around Glendalough, in Co. Wicklow. You could see the sights there and then hike out to the lake. It should be a really pretty time of year to go.

With seven days, you could jet straight down to the Dingle peninsula. for 2-3 days. There are lots of hikes on the peninsula. Also, nearby is the Killarney National Park which has lots of great hikes including the Purple Mountains and the Gap of Dunloe. Check out the Lonely Planet guidebook on hiking in Ireland. Then, spend the last few days in Dublin. Renting a car for the Dingle peninsula is better since you will be able to see more on your own time. However, without a car, it can be done. You can train from Dublin to Tralee and bus the rest of the way to Dingle. Rick's Ireland guidebook will give lots more information on doing this. I hope this helps some.
