10 day Itinenary Shannon to Dublin

We are family of 4 all adults planning our first trip to Ireland May 2017. Since we are flying in to Shannon will concentrate visiting west part of Ireland. We are planning to base ourself Galway and Killarney and last 3 nights in Dublin. We are planning to rent a car( big decision as hubby never drove left side). I do have 2 guide books Rick Steves and Fodors but i am still getting confuse how to allicate our nights between Shannon to Dublin. As i read i also like the idea staying in Dingle for couple nights. I also read that we can take a ferry to save some time.Any advise is greatly helpful.

Thank you all.

Actually we have 9 days since it is overnight flight so we land at Shannon airport next day

So if you have 9 nights and 3 of them are for Dublin, I would do the following:

1) land in Shannon and head to Galway for 2 nights... if you are not too tired from jet lag and overnight flight, you can stop at the Cliffs of Moher on your way. If interested in going to the Aran Islands, you can take a ferry from Galway

2) from Galway, I would then drive to Dingle ( drive the Slea head and Conor's pass on the way) Stay here 2 nights

3) leave Dingle and drive to Killarney (Ring of kerry, Killarney National Park etc) stay 2 nights

4) make your way to Dublin from Killarney... depending on possible stops (Blarney, Rock of Cashel etc) this may be a long day

Do you have certain places/sights that are musts?

My kids are 11 and 8 so quite a bit younger but... we all loved renting bikes in Killarney National Park and biking to Muckross house and farms. There are many, many activities in Killarney national park that you may be interested inhttp://www.killarneynationalpark.ie
We stayed at the Lake Hotel in Killarney and it was spectacular. It is right up agains the park. We had a family room and it was so spacious.

We also all really enjoyed Bunratty folk park. It is close to Shannon. Bunratty Castle was pretty cool.

Dingle was so pretty. We stayed at a farm B&B just outside in Ventry.. Garvey's farmhouse.. highly, highly recommend. Here again we had a family room and it worked wonderfully for us.

I know many find Blarney Castle to be a tourist trap but we really enjoyed it!

In Dublin, there were many highlight but a must is Kilmanhaim Gaol. You can now buy tickets online and I highly recommend doing so as the tours sell out and there were many, many disappointed people walking up to the gaol just to be turned back.
