1.5 days in Belfast... I need your input!

Hi,

I'll be flying into Belfast from Orkney around 2pm Thursday and leaving early via bus on Saturday to fly out of Dublin airport. So, I will have a 1/2 day Thursday and all of Friday for sightseeing (traveling solo). I have tentatively RSVP'd for a Belfast City bike tour on Friday, (10:00- 1:00) for 25GBP. My dilemma is this: I want to see Belfast, but I also want to see Giant's Causeway, so I am also considering an organized tour that goes there, the rope bridge & Bushmills, etc. The problem is I just cant do both time wise, and I cant decide between the 2. Anyone out there done both//have a preference? (Also, any pubs tours or other tours you took that were good?) Thanking you in advance!

We went to Belfast and the visit was very sobering in light of all that took place there during "the troubles". Also very enlightening. We also went to the Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede Bridge, and Bushmills. If memory serves correctly, the time in Belfast was only about a half a day. The rest together took up most of a day. I don't know exactly what your time line is with regard to arrival /departure, but I would think (and I might be wrong) you could do both. Perhaps a taxi tour of the historic areas of the city during your half day Thursday, and the others on Friday. Just a shot in the dark with our knowing specific times.

Wow! Thanks for the wonderfully detailed travel plan! I was torn between seeing the City & countryside but it appears I may not have to block out an entire day for a formalized tour. That is the kind of stuff only forum members know & share! :) I do like finding my own way but sometimes the transfers get confusing. (I also don't care for 'big bus' tours, I took one in Scotland last year and felt like a hairy coo being herded around.)
Much appreciated!

For a tour in Belfast, consider a Black Cab tour of the Protestant & Catholic neighborhoods & their murals. The cabbies are locals who give detailed info. The companies are mentioned in RS's Ireland 2018 & many hotels can also book for you. They last an hour or 2. I'm planning on Belfast arrival, 1 night there & 3 nights in Derry & allow easy travel around the Giant's Causeway area for my trip next year. Will be driving from Belfast up and around & South along the West coast & then back inland to Dublin :) Have fun!

I highly recommend Coiste tours. http://coiste.ie/ To understand what Belfast (and Ireland) has become it is essential to see where it was just a short time ago. The guides are incredibly knowledgeable.
