Is it possible to view any of the current volcanic activity in Iceland.
No. Roads are closed in that area as everything is very uncertain right now. This eruption is very different than the last few where we could hike right up to it.
You can keep up on latest volcanic news on the Icelandic Met Office page - https://en.vedur.is/about-imo/news/ They and local media will post whether there are safe viewing opportunities, but most of the recent activity has not been spectator friendly. As of today there is again activity near the Blue Lagoon , those poor folks in Grindavík are under an increased hazard warning (60-90 earthquakes a day, my goodness).
Just bumping this thread to note there is new volcanic activity near the Blue Lagoon and it is closed today. Air travel not impacted at the moment. No way to predict whether lava might impact your own visit, but keep an eye on local news close to your travel dates.
