Trip in the first weeks of September, 2025 Is it too late to plan in terms of hotels?
Is it possible to do ice climbing during this period?
Thanks

No, it's not too late to plan for hotels.

Can't help with ice cimbing.

You have time to plan, but I would not wait. Iceland has gotten so popular that many places book out 9-12 months in advance. Last year we went again on a whim and decided in early March to go in late September. I did have to rearrange the trip a bit since places were already booked out, to give you an idea.

For ice climbing, are you talking about an ice cave or glacier hike, or true ice climbing? September is mostly too early for ice caves and the companies are being very cautious as a cave collapsed last year and killed a person, so many are waiting until October to resume those. Katla is a bit difference as it is a year round cave. It does not collapse, but it does dwindle in the summer, but then rebuilds itself and September is a bit early for it to be at its best. Glacier hikes are year round and a lot of fun, IME. We were to do an ice climbing trip one February, but a blizzard closed all the roads in the country that particular day so it was cancelled. I am unsure about this in September though, so you would want to check with the various companies.
