Vik Accomodations

Hi
My husband and I will be visiting Iceland for 5 days and want to spend one night in the Vik area. Any suggestions? I have been on many sites and read through RS Iceland book but now my head is swimming. This is my last lodging to book for a 3 week trip (Iceland and Scotland) and everything is starting to look alike. Thanks for your help.

This is really not an answer to your question, but we stayed in a neat place about 50 minutes east of Vik, near Kistjubaejarklaustur called Magma Hotel. If you are going further east than Vik, for example to Vatnajokull National Park, or one of the lagoons, it is a good location.

It is located on the edge of one of the historic magma flows, on a small lake. The rooms are individual units with turf roofs and each has a small deck overlooking the lake where ponies and ducks make an appearance. They say they are a good place to see the northern lights, but in September we didn't have any luck. They serve dinner (extra) and breakfast (included.) The food was delicious.
I hope you get more suggestions closer to where you want to be.
You will probably go to the beach at Vik, but also, drive up the Dyrholaey Promontory adjacent to it for spectacular 360 views of the area.
Iceland is beautiful--enjoy!

This place looks good and it's pretty new from the reviews on Tripadvisor.

It's seems to be a good location for Golden Circle, and heading to Vik.
