Is Turkey Jerky allowed to come in to Iceland?

We usually travel with snacks, and since we'll be doing the Ring Road later this month, wanted some easy things to eat while driving. But after doing some reading, sounds like we may have a problem with our protein - turkey jerky. Is that not allowed in to Iceland? Do they actually search checked bags for it?

That is not allowed. They do randomly pull people aside to check their baggage and if they do and you have it, you will get a hefty fine. The jerky in Iceland is very good, I have had the lamb as well as the fish. I always bring those home as they are much better than our jerky here. You can buy this in the duty free store there upon arrival.

No, you are not allowed to bring meat, dairy, fresh fruit and vegetables.

Yes, they do checks. And if you're caught in the green lane with prohibited items that is considered smuggling.

I’m so glad you asked this question. I know I read this months ago when planning, but had forget with lol the other details. I was just thinking of adding jerky to my packing list. Thank you for saving me!
