I will be flying to Europe with a 46 hour layover in Iceland, traveling solo. Because the continuation flight offered leaves early in the morning, I thought it would be useful to stay in Keflavik. This appears to be a bad idea. All tourism assumes that you are in Reykjavik. I had not planned to get a car, and the public bus is infrequent. So the Flybus seems the best option, but it expects an advance reservation, leaving little room for flexibility. Perhaps I'll hang out on the peninsula the first day, resting from the sleepless night on the plane, enjoying the scenery, bussing out to Gardur, and go into Reykjavik the second day. Any suggestions that I haven't thought of? Joining the crowds at the Blue Lagoon doesn't have a lot of appeal.
Also, I am confused by the Flybus site. It asks for a return time, but seems to want the departure time of the flight. So, should I enter a time 3 hours after the time I actually want to board the bus?
