Tour Itinersry

With a 5 night layover in early May, we are considering doing an overnight tour to the Golden Circle and South Coast on days 2 and 3; then spending day 4 in Reykjavik for a break and day trip to Snaefellsnes on day 5. Sound doable? Is one day enough for Snaefellsnes? Thinking of using Nice Travel for the tours - any thoughts or other recommendations?

Thx, Jim s.

Snaefellsness really needs 2 days as there is just so much to see. Do you want to do tours for this too? I ask because it is very easy to self drive and then you can do it at your own pace. If you do want to do a tour, I highly recommend Troll. We have used them a number of times and aways been very pleased. I have heard good things about Nice, but just don't have any personal experience with them to comment.

Your plan sounds very doable. We did a day tour to Snaefellsnes Peninsula from Reykjavik and it was a very long day (10 or 12 hours, I think). If one day is all you have, then go for it.

I second 2 days for Snaefellsnes. If you are into hikes, there is a beautiful hike/walk between Arnarstapi and Hellnar. It is approximately 2 miles each way. The trail hugs the coastline so your views are stunning; rock formations, bird life -- just goregeous. I think it took us about .5-.75 hour to walk...but probably longer with stopping to just admire the view and take a few photos.

I agree, that hike is beautiful. We took about 45 minutes each way, and stopped for lunch at the cafe at the end of the trail at Hellnar.
