Tipping Fishing Guides

Husband is going on a guided fishing trip while we are in Iceland. Is it customary in Iceland for a fishing guide to request a tip amount in USD prior to the guided trip? If so is it more than 10%? We suspected he wants to make sure we brought enough cash. Anyone have this experience or can comment? KS

That is not customary. We have done a kayak fishing trip and my husband has done a separate fishing trip and tips are never mentioned. We do not tip in Iceland as we follow the local culture, and we have asked the locals about it on several of our trips, FWIW.
