THE BIRD ISLAND OF VIGUR Isafjordur, Iceland

I am taking a cruise in August which will be porting in Isafjordur about August 23rd..

I am thinking of taking the above shore excursion. For those who have been to Vigur, I would love your impressions.

I love birds and wildlife. Any other suggestions? I think that I will be too late to see the puffins. Is that correct?

I am going to be 77 years old so I have some limitations but I still walk a lot every day

If you have the opportunity to go out of Isafjordur by boat into any of the fjords or islands in that area, do it! I was just out that way in June and hired a boat to take me out to the westernmost finger of land that has many hiking trails. I highly recommend that you go out wherever you can in that area. It's one of the most wild, untamed, windswept places I've ever been. I didn't make it specifically to Vigur but it's on my list.

Thank you, Anita.

I will be on a cruise and have many shore excursions available.

I will consider your suggestions when choosing a shore excursion.

I've heard that puffins leave in late August/early September, so you may be lucky.

I love Puffins but I may be just a little bit late for Puffins but who knows. Too late for Puffins and too early for The Northern Lights!
