taxis in Reykjavik

How easy is it to get a taxi in central Reykjavik? We plan to take the Flybus to Reykjavik Center and then rather than use their smaller buses to our Airbnb (Ranargata 8) we would like to take a taxi - is that easy to get from there? Also later that week we need to be able to get to the cruise port. Also plan to use taxis to get to museums, restaurants, etc. during our stay. Suggestions???

Reykjavik is pretty compact and easily walkable unless you have any mobility issues. The FlyBus goes to the central bus terminal, and that is where you are talking about taking a taxi from. Taxi's do not generally hang out there, so you would need to call one. We use Hreyfill for taxis. Download the app, and then you can call them. When you call them, they will assign a driver immediately and then the driver will call you, so make sure your phone ringer is on. Your apartment is pretty central, so for restaurants and such I wood just walk. That area of town is flat. The only time we use taxis is to/from the airports if we are not renting a car. We just got back home yesterday from our latest trip and used a taxi a few times and always used Hreyfill, FWIW.
