September Itinerary

Looking for any ideas or recommendations for our trip in late September. Our itinerary right now is as follows:

Day 1: Land mid-morning, head to Reykjavik, explore the city and call it an early night due to jet lag.

Day 2: Head to Blue Lagoon (assuming it's open) in the morning, come back and do food tour in the afternoon, then aurora tour at night.

Day 3: Day trip to Snaefellsnes Peninsula

Day 4: Leave Reykjavik and head to South Coast, stay in Vik.

Day 5: Day trip to Jokulsarlon

Day 6: Leave Vik and head for Golden Circle/Gullfoss, glacier tour, stay in Golden Circle area

Day 7: Continue in Golden Circle/Thingvellir, drive back to Keflavik for flight out the next morning

That looks fine, but just have a backup plan in case of bad weather. Late September could be beautiful or it could be very stormy. Good idea to spend the night in Keflavik or at the airport before your flight.

We are headed back again during the same time and have basically the same itinerary, lol. If Blue is not open, Sky is really nice too. Or visit a local pool that day and then on your day trip to Snaefellsness take a bit and do Hvammsvik on your way back.
