Self Drive tours,, Hidden Iceland, Nordic Visitor any experiences?

We are looking to do a self drive Grand Circle tour.. Taking on order of 10+ days, Looking at doing a complete DIY or using someone like Hidden Iceland or Nordic Visitor to do the initial leg work,,

Has anyone used either of these or know of any other reputable outfits providing similar services. Or thoughts on one approach vs other..

thanks in advance

I always plan our trips myself. No need to pay someone else for something I can do, and enjoy doing, plus I am in total control. We have been 5 times so far and have never wished that I let someone else do it. I used Iceland With A View as well as the Lonely Planet Ring Road book and and that was all I needed. I have the RS Iceland book, and it is ok, but I do feel it is more for first time international travelers. So many things were omitted in his book though, but hopefully they get added as he just revisited and is revising the book. Anyway, it is very easy to plan everything yourself.

mikliz, thank you.. I've also done all the planning for our approx 10 trips to europe but was just thinking of alternatives to mix things up..
I've heard of the LP book but will look into the Iceland with a View.

Which car rental agency have you had good experiences with in Iceland?

thank you

jackn--We have always used Blue Car Rental. They aren to the cheapest, but they are honest and don't play games. We do opt for the full insurance. Their cars are good quality, and they have contactless pickup/drop off. They also have a location in Reykjavik and if you want to pick up at the airport and drop off in town, etc you do not get hit with a drop off fee. Iceland With A View has a discount code for them also.
