Seeking private driver for excursions outside Reykjavik

Hello! We’ll be in Reykjavik for a week early August. We’re in our 70s, have some mobility issues, and do not drive. We are wondering if anyone has recommendations for a private driver who can take us to some of the more scenic spots outside Reykjavik. We’re celebrating a big anniversary and are aware this would be very expensive. We are definitely willing to splurge (big time, if necessary).
We know about the Golden Circle tours, etc, but we don’t enjoy bus tours and prefer to stop at a place for as long as we want to if we find that we’re enjoying ourselves somewhere. Also, the only stops on the Golden Circle tour that interest us are Pingvellir and Gullfoss. Any suggestions about places near the spots I just mentioned would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any helpful info!

Hi, howellsfan, one company that offers private tours that I am aware of is Arctic Adventures in Iceland. On their website is information about them so you can contact them. They are highly regarded, and I have used their website a lot just to get information about the island, which is very detailed and really helpful. https://adventures.is/iceland/private-tours/

Another tour group called Troll also does private tours that you might want to check into and compare prices. I know that several people here have used them and recommend them. This would give you at least two from the start, and there may be other recommendations to follow from others. https://troll.is/private-tours-iceland/

We have never done a private tour as we either self drive or do day excursions. That said, we have used these 3 companies for day excursions and would recommend any of them. They all do private tours.

Troll, we have used many times and they are excellent.

Bus Travel Iceland, we have used once, this past March, and would absolutely recommend them.

NiceTravel, we also have used once also in March, and they were great as well. On our tour with them, they really impressed me because of a situation we encountered. We came upon a really bad accident (icy roads) and were stuck there for 2 hours, which of course threw off the itinerary for the rest of the day. Our driver managed to still squeeze everything in, even though he had to change things up a bit. He could have very easily just said oh well, too bad, but he didn't.

We did have a tour booked with Arctic Adventures, but it was cancelled due to weather. I will say they were excellent at communication and they processed the refund immediately.
