As expected, while booking lodging, we're not finding availability in our price range in the Seydisfjordur area, so we're considering pushing on. (Though it will be a long day, we'll be starting in Myvatn and doing Dettifoss and Stuðlagil Canyon).
Any ideas of towns along the way that might have some good loding? $$ and family of four (2 kids 13, 17)
What is your budget and what are your dates? We almost always use booking.com in Iceland as we like to have cottages so that we can spread out a bit and cook. We had an amazing one in Seydisfjordur, right on the fjord.
Have you looked at bungalo.com? Seyðisfjörður is very small. Have you looked at Egilsstaðir instead?
Myvatn to Dettifoss to Stuðlagil Canyon to Egilsstaðir is a long day. There's not much past Egilsstaðir for a long time, so I don't know where you would push on to.
Budget is $$ (family room or two rooms that aren't both $$$). Could go up to $$$ if needed, but I'm not finding much for those either. I'll try booking. I haven't heard of bungalo.com, I'll try that too. I previously tried AirBnB. I also checked Egilsstaðir.
We can get a room (on hold) at the Wilderness Center. That's my backup plan.
EDIT: one of the issues is most places require 2 night stay in the summer....
