Anyone have any thoughts between Reykjavik Excursions vs. Nice Travel for one particular tour I am considering? I'm leaning to Nice because they have better customer support online, answer my questions completely, and are recommended in the RS travel book. RE has a bigger fleet and may use big buses, as opposed to the 19 passenger Mercedes Sprinter. I don't know if large buses are an advantage or disadvantage. The large buses are easier to board and less cramped, but you have a larger group and sightseeing from a large bus might not be as good. Thanks in advance.
I just responded to your post on another forum that you posted on. I have used RE ages ago, on our first trip and it was fine, but I would not do big bus again. The smaller ones are better IMO since you are waiting on fewer people and you get more in-depth info from your guide. We have always used Troll which uses small buses, but only for day excursions that we needed guides for. Friends have used Nice and had great things to say about them, but I have no personal experience. If this were me, I would look at either Nice or Troll.
Thanks, mikliz97. Great information. I was leaning to Nice as it was. I'm going to book Troll for the other day tour. They (Nice) have a slight edge (over RE) in review ratings on Tripadvisor. Your analysis is perfect.
Troll has been so good for us. On one winter trip, we had a 2 day south coast tour booked, but a huge storm was rolling in so at the last minute they had to cancel the second day. They were so good with communication and offers. We could go for one day and pack in as much as possible, or a refund. We opted for the one day, and they processed the refund for the second day immediately. The way they handled that was excellent, so of course we used them for other day trips such as Katla and a glacier hike. BTW, Snaefellsness is a really underrated place. There is so much variety there that it is like a mini Iceland. We have been up to that area several times and still have missed so much.
Wonderful info. I just booked through Nice. Now on to second tour with Troll. Thanks again, mikliz97.
