Hi we are going to be 1 full
Day in Reykjavik. We are traveling with two teens 16 and 13.
Where should we stay where should we eat and what should we do.
We are traveling mid July.
Thank you in advance.
Golden Circle
Just to clarify -- when do you arrive and when do you leave? On a cruise ship?
We arrive around 7 pm on the 8th and leave around noon on the 10 th.
If you take an organized tour, reserve a few days in advance
I would rent a car and stay in Reykjavik that first night. It will still be light out and you can easily still wander all over Reykjavik before going to bed. In the morning, I would head either to the Golden Circle with a bit of the south coast, or up to Snaefellsness, and then stay in Reykjavik again, or even an hour away. Then in the morning you could wander Reykjavik a bit and do a local pool before heading to the airport. Having a car would allow you to see so much more than a tour. Having been to Iceland a number of times, I personally would opt for Snaefellsness as it is not nearly as crowded as the south coast and you get a real variety, so it is like seeing a mini Iceland. On your way back south, hit Hvammsvik Hot Spring if you want a soak.
I did both the South Coast and the Golden Circle and I loved the South Coast tour more. You see more waterfalls, the black beach and the puffins.
Went to the Sky Lagoon too, but that was part of my Golden Circle tour.
