Recommended tour companies for Ring Road tour

Greeting travelers, I have been waiting for Rick to start a guided tour of Iceland but I'm not getting any younger so the next best thing is to get a recommendation from Rick Steves' Travelers. I am a senior so I'm not looking for a strenuous hiking, trekking adventure but more in line with the type of guided tours that Rick has. I have his book and have decided I want to spend maybe 7-8 days and explore the Ring Road. I really hate planning tri[s and I also don't feel confident in finding a reputable tour company. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We used Express Iceland in May 2017, but they don't seem to exist anymore. Nordic Visitor is still around, however, and we had considered using them also. Our tour included all hotels, the car rental, GPS for the car, and an extensive road guide that was much better than any guidebook we had with us. Hotel reservations were based on day drives that allowed for stopping at the major--and some minor--sights. We were really pleased with the experience.

We always see drive on our Iceland trips, but have used www.troll.is for excursions that require a guide. They are excellent and I would not hesitate to book a longer trip with them.

That said, tour operators usually do the ring road in about 8 days. That is very fast pa ed and you will miss a lot. If you are up for self driving, you can easily do Snaefellsness/the golden circle/south coast in that same time.

If you are looking for this summer or early fall, a tour is probably best since most places in Iceland book out 9-12 months in advance.

8 days will be a rushed trip, but I know that's what some of the companies offer. Well, 8 days in Iceland is better than none!

Tour companies recommended here and on TripAdvisor forum include the previously mentioned Troll as well as Arctic Adventures and Reykjavik Excursions.
