Recommendations for 4-day guided tour in late Sept?

Hi all, have you any recommendations for a 4-day guided tour in the second half of Sept this year? A smaller group size would be great, plus a mix of experiences - also not just sitting on a bus for hours doing the loop, with hopping out for a photo now and then and quickly back on the bus :)
I've looked at the options from tour operators listed in the current Rick Steves' Iceland guide book, but any recent observations about this type of tour and time of year would be awesome. (We're not planning to drive ourselves, although I know many people do.)
Thank you!

September is a beautiful time in Iceland. The aurora starts back up, typically the weather is not awful, there are far fewer crowds, and there is some autumn color. IME, you chose a great time!

As for tour companies, definitely book with a local one vs a third party reseller (Viator, Get Your Guide, etc) or with a company like Collette, etc that don't know Iceland like the locals.

We have used Troll a number of times and really like them, but on our trip this week we also used Nice Travel and Bus Travel Iceland. They were excellent! We had a tour with Arctic Adventures booked, but it was cancelled due to extreme weather. Even though the tour didn't go, they were great to work with and the refund has already hit our account. These are all highly regarded, and not just by me;)

Take a look at what these companies offer. You can certainly do active trips such as a glacier hike. NiceTravel has a nice looking tour to the Westfjords, which are a beautiful area that not many visitors get to. Read through all the offerings and see what sparks an interest and go from there.

We used Nice Travel last September for the first part of our trip. Guides were excellent!

I’m booked for summer tour with Nordic Visitor, who I found recommended on this forum. So far I can say that their booking and pre tour communications have been excellent!
