Question on taxi cost KEF to Reykjavik cruise port

Hi

Next summer we will be taking a cruise from the Skarfabakki port. There will be 4 of us with 4 full size suitcases. We know taxi's are expensive, but still probably cheaper than 4 flybus fares. Can anyone provide an estimate for the one way taxi cost from KEF to the port? Is one taxi big enough for the 4 of us with luggage.

Also would we be better prebooking a transfer service?

Thanks in advance.

Like you, we were a party of 4 with luggage. We flew back in July of this year. After research, we took the Skybus. From memory the cost was $45 per person. We caught the bus just down the hill 2 blocks (NE) of Laugavegur street downtown. Easy walk from Hotel Fron.

It was fine but there is a transfer to another bus at the bus station we weren't aware of. They got us there in a timely manner for an early flight and all was fine.

With 4 of you it will be cheaper to use a taxi vs FlyBus. We have used Hreyfill as they are legit and very good. I have not been to the cruise port, but from KEF to the city center a normal rate is about $150. When we did this again a couple weeks ago there was a big event with closed roads etc and the taxi driver was very nice and turned off the meter when it was $180. You can book ahead on their app or just call them when you arrive.

We used taxi recommended by hotel (Hotel Centrum Reykjavik) in city center of Reykjavik. Fridrick was our driver and he's very good Company unknown, but I can certainly get his number if you wish. He uses a Skoda sedan which is too small for your group, but I'm sure he has access to larger vehicles. 20,000 ISK ($163) from city center to KEF which should be comparable to fare from KEF to cruise ship location.

Go to Hreyfill’s site and pre book your ride. You’ll see fares there. (It’s cheaper not to book ahead, but if you want peace of mind, they assign you a car and driver.) We were very happy with their service.

Remember there is non-zero risk in flying in the same day of a cruise embarkation.

There's quite a few companies you could use, as for prices I'm unsure.

  • Hreyfill Taxi (main local taxi provider)
  • Airport Shuttle Iceland (popular among locals and travelers)
  • Airport Taxi Iceland (geared towards travelers)
  • City Taxi (geared towards travelers)
  • Nordic Taxi RVK (geared towards travelers)

It's definitely better to pre-book so you pay upfront and don't end up with any added fees that might occur.

Then you have RE and Grayline for non-private scheduled airport transfers.
