PCR/Antigen testing from Canada to Iceland and back?

Hi,

Has anyone here recently (since August 2021) travelled from Canada to Iceland (and back)?

I have a few questions regarding the required PCR/Antigen testing:

  • At any point when leaving Canada do I need a PCR test? I've read that Iceland (as of now - December 4, 2021) accepts Antigen tests "on boarding" the flight ... just wanted to confirm if Antigen is all I need?

  • How was your experience of booking an Icelandic PCR test for re-entry into Canada? How long did you have to wait for results?

Thanks!

Most of the information on traveling to Iceland can be found at covid.is, including what you need to enter the country as well as where to find testing sites.

You could also go to TripAdvisor Iceland forum, where they have a very active group including some Canadians.

I just came back from a trip to Iceland (December 21 - January 1) and I only needed to provide a negative Rapid Antigen test going to Iceland, but needed a negative PCR test returning to Canada. Definitely keep up with the rules on covid.is.

Booking an Icelandic PCR test for re-entry into Canada was very straightforward and easy (all online, you can use your phone with a WiFi connection but I used my laptop because I prefer to navigate sites with a bigger screen). I got my test on December 31 at 9:00 am and the results arrived in my e-mail at 1:00 pm. My flight was January 1st at 5:00 pm, so it was cutting it close but they came through!
