We just now bought our round trip airfare to Reykjavik arriving May 25th returning May 31st. There are three of us, My husband, our grown up son and myself. We will rent a car. We are in the hurry to find a place to stay. Not sure we should stay in one place or spread out during our visit. Also not sure should go for apartment type or hotel. Any suggestion and advise are greatly appreciated. This is our first time there.

Suggest you figure out what you want to see and then determine if one location or multiple makes sense for your trip.
Then use your favorite search method, booking.com, trivago.com etc to see what you can find in your budget range.
Time is short, jump to warp speed.

We have stayed at the Hotel Cabin twice and really liked it. The rate comes with a nice buffet breakfast and large breakfast room, free parking, is 1/2 block from the waterfront walk and about a 1 km walk into the city. Some rooms do not have windows so specify. We really didn't care since we were out all day sightseeing. We always look at the hotel website for booking and compare pricing with other booking sights.
