Medical Travel Insurance

After we disembark from our cruise in Reykjavik, we will be spending a week to explore the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and the South Coast. We have full insurance coverage while cruising, so we're looking for medical insurance while on land for the final leg. American Express has a good plan for medical only. Has anyone used them, or do you have a go-to company for such things? Thanks for any advice!

We use DAN as they have an annual plan that works well for us. We have not used the plan with AE, and I can't remember why, but I know I looked into it ages ago and for us at the time anyway, it was not a good option.

Thanks for the info. I looked at DAN, but they don't seem to offer medical only. I like your idea of annual insurance. We might consider that at some point! For this trip, we need medical only, AE allows you to choose "a la carte" so to speak, and has a medical only policy for $64. Did a deeper dive and their response and denial ratings on Consumer Affairs are awful. Someone here once suggested GeoBlue. Any other possibilities?
Thanks much!

SquareMouth website is worth seeking a quote. Easy to use. Select amongst the options and carriers. I've purchased insurance many times through it, and fortunately, have never filed a claim.

I just looked at Amex to see, and the reason it wasn't good for us is they don't offer it to WA residents;)

You might look at Trawick International - they have emergency medical only plans [Safe Travels Outbound] that include emergency evacuation. I've never had to file a claim. I found their rates reasonable and easy to purchase. I believe the last policy was actually issued on Nationwide.

GeoBlue offers medical only. They do not have the pre-existing condition clause the many comprehensive plans do.
Do you also need Evac insurance? If so, look at MedJet.
Enjoy your trip!
