We are looking to stay at Grand Guesthouse Gardakot for a family of 4 in Vik. Has anyone stayed here and have thoughts? Approximately $300 per night seems a bit costly. Any other recommendations in Vik for a 2 night stay.

Icleand is very expensive and Vik is a tiny village, so likely a low supply of lodging. Check comparative hotels on booking.com. If you're looking at 2 rooms, then $300 per night doesn't seem out-of-bounds. I paid over $200 for a very modest, dormitory like single room, although in the center of Reykjavik (and that was more than 5 years ago).

Hotel Anna isn't in Vik but isn't too far away and they have rooms to sleep 4. We paid less than $300 a night, but for all I know that's the price in July and August.

Check Airbnb - you might be able to find something cheaper nearby, but as others have said, lodging is expensive and I'd say especially in the S/SE.
