Anyone who has been to one or both of these museums:
Are they kid friendly? Which would you recommend?
I am only going to do one of them and I'd like a little help deciding.

I haven't been there yet, but as of right now the Lava Centre is still closed due to the pandemic, while the Westman Islands volcano museum is open even though the hours are more limited. In other words, you might not have much of a choice if your trip is happening soon.
