Going to Iceland in June. Are insects a problem at that time of year and do we need to bring bug jackets?
Hi and welcome to the forum,
Midges can be a problem in the Lake Myvatn area. If it is windy, there will be no problem. If not, you would be advised to bring head nets. Just keep them handy in your pocket if you need them. The midges don’t bite but swarm your face which is very annoying.
You can get very inexpensive head nets on Amazon and they are small and easy to pack. I was very glad that we had ours, especially at Lake Myvatn but also a few other places. People who didn't have anything were very jealous and I could have easily sold them for five times what we paid.
