I would like to take a tour to Iceland. Has anyone traveled to Iceland with either of these two companies? If so please share experiences insights. I know many will jump on and say it's so easy to get around on your own. However, I don't like to drive, and I am not brave going places on my own. I enjoy the input of seasoned guides/locals, so I truly prefer tours. Thanks for any information you are able to pass along.
Why not book with a local company that knows Iceland inside and out? Take al look at Troll and Nice Travel. We have used Troll for excursions that required a guide, and they have always been great for us. Friends have used Nice and really liked them as well. Both of these are local companies.
On a recent Gate 1 tour (not Iceland) I noticed we had practically the same itinerary as Road Scholar and most nights we were staying in the same hotels. Out of curiosity, I looked up prices. Road Scholar tour cost $2000 more.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Have to say I’ve been on several trips with gate 1 DISCOVERY TOURS. They are limited to 22 people and all our trips have been outstanding. Great hotels and itineraries. Private bus and tour guides are knowledgeable as well as super organized. They’re our favourite company for last 9 tours.
Check them out especially their weekly specials!
Good luck!
I will be on a Roads Scholar grandparent/grandchild trip in a few days. I will report back. I have not done RS, mostly OAT or Rick Steves. RS seems to be too expensive for 6 day tour, 2 days are counted as travel. I wanted a trip with kids my grandsons age. Wish Rich S. Had some grandparent trips. I can only find a few family trips. Rick, you missing out on a great market. Lot’s of grand parents like me who backed Europe in the 70’s and want to experience travel with my grandkids.
