I have never experienced Iceland and am planning a trip in mid-March by myself. My primary objective is to experience the Northern Lights. I will have 6 days and would like ideas on what other events/adventurers to experience. I have never been to any glaciers. I am curious if I should join a tour group or have the freedom of being independent. Any "must - see & do" suggestions are welcome. What are the foods, waterfalls, cultural events, etc that I should consider for a 6 day trip. Thank you
Will it just be you? You do not need a tour group to do Iceland unless you want some company.
I visited briefly at the end of March 2019. It was still cold and in fact snowed some while I was there. I disagree with the "just go visit it yourself" idea when it comes to visiting remote or unfamiliar terrain (glaciers) in a new climate. Why not combine independent and day tours or a short tour as the way to go?
Thank you all for your informative responses.
