Iceland-September 29-Oct 6 Itinerary Help

Arriving at 5am and picking up rental car. Planning on doing Golden Circle and staying in Fludir, Mosas Cottages, for 1 night or going straight to Vik (Hotel Katla) for 2 nights?
For the 3rd night staying in Hofn (Milk Factory) and 4th night staying in Egilsstader ( Icelandir Hotel). Is this a good start? Suggestions for next stays or adjustments.
We enjoy hiking and maybe an ice cave tour.

To really be able to answer this, do you arrive on September 29th and if so, what time? Also what time on the 6th do you leave, or are your dates of actual flying different? I ask because that really determines how much time you have.

We arrive at 5am on the 29th after a 6 hour flight departing from BWI. Our Iceland departing flight on 6 October leaves at 3pm. Thank you!

We're a day behind you(Sept.30-Oct.7)...staying in Hella first night(Superjeep to Thórsmörk), then Vik 2 nights(horseback riding & Reynisfjara Black Beach) and not quite as far as Hofn 1 night(for Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon & Diamond Beach) before retracing our steps to Kirkjubæjarklaustur(Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon) and back to Reykjavik for final two nights.(Northern Lights Superjeep) Lots of waterfalls in between...You might want to take a bit of a detour leaving Hofn and stop at Stokksnes to have a peek at Vestrahorn Mountain before heading onwards.

Thanks for the additional information. For the day of arrival, I personally would not drive as far as Vik. After an overnight flight, you don't realize how much jet lag can get to you. I am particularly aware of how lack of sleep can be disastrous as my aunt fell asleep at the wheel many years ago and ended up as a paraplegic. So definitely something to really consider. Anyway, I would lay low that day of arrival and maybe go as far as the Golden Circle or the Selfoss area and take it easy and go to bed early. The next day I would head Hofn and then the day after that to Egilsstadir. Then on your way back you could meander a bit more to things you did not stop for. I would make sure that you were back fairly close to KEF so you don't have a long drive in case anything goes amiss.

We have been 3 times so far a will be there again the end of October. We are doing an ice cave on this trip, which we have missed in the past. You might want to do a glacier hike and may be a northern lights tour? Just a few ideas to toss out.
