We are planning to book a RS Best of Scandinavia tour in 2026 and were hoping to add on Iceland after that tour? Does anyone have recommendations for an escorted land tour of Iceland that you enjoyed and would recommend? We could do up to 8-12 days. For example, we are looking at an 8 day Globus Iceland Adventure tour.... We do not really want to do an independent tour that we have to plan ourselves.
I would stick to a local company such as Troll or Nice. We have used Troll for excursions there quite a few times and they are great to work with. I have not used Nice, but friends have and were pleased. I just took a quick look at both of these. Troll only offers up to an 8 day ring road trip. which IMO is way too fast. Nice has a nice 10 day trip and it includes the Westfjords. Troll's tour has a glacier hike and ice cave excursion, but Nice is more focused on seeing sights. Here is the Nice one:

If you can still do the extra 2 days, allow at least a day for Reykjavik and then the other day you could drive the Reykjanes Peninsula.
I have never taken a tour like what you are looking for. Every time we go there, we plan the trips ourselves and self drive. If you have other questions though, I am happy to help. Our 8th trip is coming up!
I went on a Road Scholar tour of Iceland in September and really enjoyed it. There were 21 of us, so not very large of a group and we had a local as our guide the entire time. It was about 9 days and covered a large swath of the country. Go to their website to see the itinerary. I have found the people on Road Scholar trips to be similar to those on Rick Steves tours - curious, adventurous and open to new experiences. It included fun activities including whale watching, fjord cruising complete with freshly caught scallops onboard, lots of local history and legends, local geology and geothermal lectures, local folk dancing, and a fun visit to Sky Lagoon (Blue Lagoon was closed due to volcano fumes). I really enjoyed the trip and it was nice not to have to plan anything ourselves. You could easily add extra days onto the tour to catch anything you missed seeing.
Agree with mikliz about going with a local company. The Globus 8-Day tour is waaay too much driving. Everything will be a blur!
Thank you for your advice!
Has anyone been on Imprint Tours trip to Iceland? We are super impressed by Imprints itineraries; have booked their VAT (Vietnam, Angkor, Thailand) trip in Jan 2026 and are considering several other trips including Iceland.
Take a look at Odysseys Unlimited Tour of Iceland.
The price you first see includes airfare but you can pay just for the tour itself an make your own flight arrangements.
We did 8- day Globus and was fine, despite a bit too much bus-time and the fact that the outer island (away from Reykavik) all looks a bit the same. I might just do the Golden Circle area and spend a bit more time at each main attraction rather than circumnavigating the island to see more waterfalls for 45 minutes apiece.
