We had two RT Flights Den-KEF-DEN and another two, one way, KEF -BGO(Bergen). They canceled the flights due to COVID and we chose to get refunds. We have been assigned claim numbers and have received several emails apologizing for the delay. Has anyone actually received a refund from Iceland Air for their canceled flights?
We too had our flights cancelled and we requested a refund for our 5 r/t tickets. Iceland Air keeps sending emails apologizing for how long it is taking, so instead of waiting on them we contacted our credit card company to do a chargeback. That was just a couple weeks ago, so we have the temporary credit until they can verify everything.
Mine was a request for flight credit because I cancelled - it took more than 2 months to finally come through, and I did get the occasional e mail apologies. Which were appreciated!
Just received an email notifying me that the first of the refunds, the much smaller amount, has been processed. Waiting for the second one now.
They replied immediately to my inquiry which was very impressive.
I finally got my refund this week. Icelandair cancelled by Aug. 31 flight back on May 20th. So, it was almost exactly 3 months to get the refund - but I did get it!
Have been waiting since 15 May for a refund for our flights in Oct. that they canceled. Once a month, we get an email saying it is being processed. Visiting the IcelandAir FB page, lets me know that I am not alone. People are waiting an average of 3-4 months.
As I mentioned earlier, we went the credit card route. We got the official notice yesterday that they have refunded the money. So our wait was only 4 weeks, going this route. They gave us the provisional credit immediately, but the refund is now complete.
Still waiting. It has been 4.5 months.
Anyone get their refund yet that has been waiting a long time?
Ms Jo--Is there a reason you have not contacted your credit card about a refund? That was a very easy thing for us to do and we had our refund shortly after, as I mentioned above. Reading other travel forums, this is the way most people have been gettin their refunds, FWIW.
I don't have a credit card, just a debit card.
Ms Jo--I have not used a debit card for this, but I do know that when those are compromised people do get their money back. It would stile worth a shot to contact the card company and explain the situation since you did not receive what you paid for.
I was supposed to fly there yesterday, so am quite sad that I am not there. On the other hand, their lockdown got so much worse, starting yesterday, so it is good that I am NOT there.
Iceland Air keeps sending me emails that they are still processing my claim.
Iceland Air finally came through. They are doing the refund today. Yay!
We finally received all of our refunds from Iceland Air.
How is Icelandair about vouchers?
