Hotel Suggestion for Overnight Layover

My husband and I are flying Iceland Air to Paris and have a 9-hour layover in Reykjavik, arriving at 10:50 PM with a departure the next day at 7:40 AM. The Aurora Hotel is not available and so we are looking for a hotel with easy access to and from Keflavik Airport. The budget is US$ 450/ISK62,000 for the night. Any suggestions will be welcomed. Thank you.

The Aurora Hotel is the closest, but after that look at Courtyard by Marriott. There are a handful of other hotels very close by. If you are wanting a higher end option, about 20 minutes away in Grindavik is the Northern Light Inn which is wonderful. The problem with that though is you are only there to sleep so would not get to really enjoy it. We have had 2 great stays there, so can vouch for it personally;)

Thank you both for the responses. I have been checking the Aurora and will continue to do so. I don’t need anything fancy. It will be only for about a maximum of 5 hours of sleep. I’ll also check the Courtyard by Marriott which had not popped up in my searches.

JHK, I don't know where you are searching, but if you go to Google Maps and zoom in to the airport, all of the closeby hotels will show up. Problem is that even though some of them are close to the terminal, they are still rather difficult to walk to.

We decided to stay in Keflavik town, which at least gave us more to do. We had a wider selection of restaurants and shops, and we walked the trail along the water. Note that Kaflavik town is about 5km from the airport, and the taxi fare is $25-$30 USD one way. A couple of the hotels in Keflavik do offer airport shuttle, so you should check on that.

I have been searching on Google and nothing showed up. I have an aversion to hotel airport shuttles after some bad experiences so I was trying to see if there is anything at the airport. Well, it turned out that only the Aurora would fit the bill. So then I decided to look for a nearby place with shuttle service and nothing has come up that is close that has a shuttle, which seems odd to me. I'll keep looking. The night I need the hotel is October 12th.

Take a look at booking.com . We use that most of the time for our lodging in Iceland. Even just pull up the Aurora Hotel on that and then click on the map. When that screen comes up, you will see other hotels nearby, and you can click on those and see if they have shuttles. Then you can search the reviews with shuttle as a filter, so you can see if it is reliable etc. Or just get a taxi. The Northern Light Inn does have a shuttle, but we have not used it so I can't vouch for it personally.

There are not a whole lot of hotels that are "close" to the airport. Aurora is the closest. Then there's the Courtyard by Mariott, Hotel Asbru, and Start Hostel, all of which show up on my Google Map search. I agree that booking.com is also a good way to search. Have you set a "hotel" feature on your Google Maps?

In Keflavik town itself, there are a lot more choices. After covid, not many offer shuttle services. I believe that Hotel Berg has an airport shuttle and it is a very nice place. You might also check Keilir hotel, Hotel Jazz, etc. But you'll have to look at each website to see if they offer a shuttle.

Thanks to all for your help. I booked the Konvin Hotel. The Aurora, Berg, Asbru, Keilir, and Jazz are currently all unavailable on the night of October 12th.
