Hi All!
We have a very early departure from the day we are leaving Iceland in May and am looking for suggestions for a hotel to stay at our last night. Ideally we would like to take in the Blue Lagoon and/or volcano and be near the airport for our early am departure. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.
We stayed at the Northern Lights Inn in 2015, https://www.nli.is. It is theoretically within walking distance of the Blue Lagoon. Theoretically since you would need to walk across a lava field (for which there was no trail). The Inn picked us up from the Blue Lagoon when we called. They also have a taxi service to and from the airport (which they didn't have in 2015). Excellent rooms and food.
I also highly recommend Northern Light Inn. We stayed there in August 2021 and loved it. Our daughter stayed there in 2019 and said that was a must stop. We did the Blue Lagoon on the day we checked out, and just left our luggage at the hotel since it is maybe 5 minutes away. BTW, the NLI has float pods that are AMAZING!!! We did that the day we arrived before dinner at Max's and what a great way to relax and end the trip.
I had a very early flight a couple of years ago and stayed at the Aurora Hotel on the airport grounds. As advertised, it's a 3 minute walk to the terminal. Basic but clean.
There’s a Marriott on the edge of Keflavik, 1-1/2 miles from the terminal.
Be advised...the Courtyard does not have a shuttle service to the airport. You have to get a cab. That's the reason I didn't stay there.
