My wife, 9 year old, and I are doing a 24 hour stop over in June on our way to Scandinavia. We're looking for suggestions on where to stay and what is recommended for such a short stay. We're not sure if the Blue Lagoon makes sense - thoughts?

With 24 hours you have time for the Blue Lagoon if you go directly from the airport, but you need to reserve tickets ahead of time. For the rest of the day you could do the Golden Circle and/or spend time in Reykjavik.

I’d focus on going on one of the day tours that explores the countryside and geothermal features or rent a car and drive the golden circle yourself. Blue Lagoon is expensive (as is all of Iceland) and a highlight for some and a let down for others. It is extremely well marketed.
