Help with June Itinerary

Hi! Another itinerary to review, please. We are two adults traveling by campervan for 10 days for the first two weeks of June.

Does this itinerary seem doable? Do we need to ride a boat on Jökulsárlón or is the coast hike good enough?

Is the Thakgil area worth visiting? We added that in to have a more of an uncrowded area since we cannot get into the highlands (everything says the roads will still be closed then). I'd love to see Landmannalaugar, but I do not think that the road will be open yet.

We have considered taking a super jeep tour into Thorsmork. Can this be done in one day without an overnight or is that too much?

We will be overnighting at Akranes, Snorrastadir, Fludir, Hvolsvollur, Þórsvöllur, Vik, Skaftafell, and the KEF area. Should any of these campsites be avoided? The reviews are so mixed on most of them that I do not know what to believe.

TIA for any comments/recommendations.

As for Jokulsarlon, there really is no hike. You can walk along the shore for just a tiny bit, but the zodiac boat tour gives an entirely different perspective and you see so much more. We have done it a few times and it is spectacular.

On day one I would skip Reykjavik. Just head to the grocery stores near the airport (Costco, Bonus etc) and stock up on what you may need and then head up to Hvammsvik. Then to Akranes and relax there. If you are coming from the US or any overnight flight, this is as much driving as is recommended for day of arrival.

Glymur should be accessible.

For Westmann Islands, if you could overnight there I highly recommend it. The puffins nest on the cliffs there and are only on land in the early morning and later at night, so staying over gives you a chance to see them on land. Otherwise they are flying around fishing all day. You see them fly, but not all on land and up close.

I have not made it to Thakgil yet so cannot comment except to say that I have hear nothing but good about it.

Day 10 would be a good time to see a bit of Reykjavik.
