Help - deciding between Gjain area or Hraunfossar Husafell area

Hi - we are trying to decide whether to allocate a half day to Hraunfossar/Husafell area or to Gjain/Haifoss area. Any reasons we should choose one over the other? For context, we will be coming from an overnight in Snaefellsnes, and either

Southern Snaefellsnes coast to Borgarnes to Hvammsvik and evening near Bruarfoss at an airbnb, with the next day doing Bruarfoss, Gullfoss, Friodheimar, Gjain, Hjalparfoss, Stong, Gjain, back to Bruarfoss airbnb

or

2) Southern Snaefellsnes coast to Hraunfossar area with all the sights, stay in airbnb Esjuberg/Klajarnes just through the fjord tunnel. Next day, Hvammsvik, Bruarfoss, Gullfoss, Frioheimar, and back to airbnb, no Gjain area.

Thanks for any and all advice - we are a family of five, 2 adults and 3 teen/young adult children. We know both would have long drives, probably the longest of our trip, but don't want to be in the car for more than 2 hours at a stretch if we can avoid

IMO, Fridheimar is overrated, so I would skip that.

Both Gjain and Hraunfossar areas are great. Hraunfossar will have many more people, as it is super easy to get to. Gjain has two routes to get there, the first one is the "easy" one, and the other is up the mountain and on a road that 4x4's and extra clearance is required, not just suggested. The easy route though is still pretty rough. Once at Gjain though, you will most likely have it almost to yourself. We saw about 3 other cars when we parked, and only saw one couple, and another couple that was getting married. Those were brief though, and we had the rest to ourselves.

It just really depends on your preference. You can't go wrong either way. If you go to Hraunfossar though, know that the toilets are cash only (coins), no cards. Option 1 is a really full day and option 2 is much more relaxed.
