We have an extra day/night in Iceland in late June. We already booked a refundable day trip to Landmannalaugar from Reykjavik, but now are wondering if the Westman Islands may be a better use of our time, as the Landmannalaugar trip is a long, long day trip but it looks beautiful and intriguing. I know activities are subjective, but we are looking for advice on Heimaey, taking a boat trip around the island, self drive, etc. - we will have a rental car. Would be need to spend a night on the island? Is this doable from Reykjavik for a day trip? Thank you.
