My cell company wants $100 for me to be able to receive/make calls while we are in Iceland. The rental car I will have in Iceland comes with a free wifi hotspot, so I downloaded Google Voice as it seemed to be a reasonable way to make and receive calls during holiday. When in Iceland, calls are 1 cent a minute. I doubt I will make even one call but leaving the kiddos to mind the farm, you never know...
So far, I have been able to make and receive "practice" calls fine, as well as send and receive texts. I like the fact that it will send an email to my Gmail account in case I have missed a call/text.
Anyone else tried this in Iceland and will it work on the wifi networks you log into over there? T-minus 2 weeks and counting!
