I'll be in Reykjavik for an entire day and then at least Saturday morning - the airline keeps moving our flight out - and am wondering if anyone can recommend a small group tour? I'd prefer something smaller than about 12 people. I've also heard about a Whale Safari and wondering if anyone has taken it?

I just booked the golden circle tour with this company Reykjavik Sightseeing, through expedia. They did have a smaller group one however it was double the cost so I opted with the regular tour.
Can I ask what airline you are flying with?
Norwegian Air...and I'm getting frustrated because they've changed our flights home twice now...you?
I'm flying in with WOW air to Iceland, but flying from Iceland to Madrid with Norwegian air.

We did a Golden Circle tour with GeoIceland in Sept 2016. (We had a 19 hour layover due to poor flight scheduling on my part) They picked us up for the tour at the bus depot in a mini bus. Other passengers were picked up at various other locations. The driver/guide was excellent and the group was small. We even stopped to photograph some Icelandic ponies that were next to the road.

I have to say we thought the Golden Circle was a waste of time with the exception of the falls. We were there in August and the weather sucked. We are from the Pacific NW and are used to stormy weather but it was horrible. Probably just bad luck for us. Lots and Lots of tour buses on the Golden Circle road though. enjoy
I'm going mid-May and have a reservation with Iceland Horizon that only has small groups via minibus - http://icelandhorizon.is/the-golden-circle. They were recommended by Lonely Planet and have been very nice and professional responding by email so far.
