We have a car for one day to do the Golden Circle. Is it preferable to travel one direction over the other?.....Thanks

It does not matter one bit. Are you adding in Fridheimer for lunch by chance? If so, then work your itinerary around the time for that so you are not backtracking. You definitely need reservations there, but it is so worth it!

That doesn’t surprise me. I have heard though that you can be seated in the bar area with trout reservations and still order food so you might try that.
