For the restaurant, no you absolutely need a reservation. However, there is a small bar area inside adjacent to the restaurant and you can eat there without a reservation. There is also a newish wine bar area where you can eat and not need a reservation.

For most anywhere in Iceland, a reservation is a must in high season, minus food trucks and gas stations of course.

We ate in the wine bar / bistro a couple weeks ago. We got there around 6:30 on a Wednesday evening and were immediately seated. The tables were maybe 75% full by the time we left.

Note also that they do not serve food continuously throughout the day.

This is from their website.

"Kitchen open every day from 11:30 to 16:00. The Little Tomato Shop and the Winebar & Bistro are open from 9:00 to 17:00"

I'm curious where you see those times mikliz97, because on the page I'm looking at, I see "Friðheimar Winebar is open every day from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM" and the very bottom has "Open every day 12pm – 22pm. Kitchen open 12pm - 20pm."

Tricia--Interesting. They need to fix their website;) You were looking at the wine bar page, and I was looking at the main Fridheimar page as well as another page linked from there, and found these hours at the very bottom. I am curious now:)

I bet they have FB page or at least an email. Write and ask them.
