Food for the Road

Hello,
What food can be brought into Iceland? We are planning some extensive hiking and have food allergies and would like to bring some handy items for emergency snacks. Are the following allowed? vacuum sealed cheese, sealed bags dried fruit, sealed bags nuts, packets of nut butter, tuna or cooked chicken packets.

I read uncooked meats like salami and ham are forbidden and are confiscated typically. Would love to know the experience of others. We know about the 3 kg weight limit.

Thanks

Helen

Hi Helen,
Our family has taken dried fruits and nuts, nut butter (if a jar- must in in checked in luggage) .

As far as I know, no cheeses or meats (dried or in cans or packets) are permitted. I would stop at a grocery store in Reykjavik and purchase the “meat” items there.
I would check with the Iceland tourist authority, they might know.
