Does anyone have any information about reasonably priced fishing trips, preferably out of Husavik or Myvatn? River, lake, ocean and shore are all ok. Nothing fancy. My 13 year old son is an avid angler. Everything I’m finding online is +$500 per person for around 4 hours. That’s a little spendy for a family. The fishing regulations seem very complicated, so I don’t want to go on our own. Thanks in advance!
You are right, this is a tough one. We have looked into it extensively for our trips and mostly gave up. Except we did find a really way to go. We used Vesture Adventures out of Grundarfjordur (on Snaefellsness) and did the guided kayak fishing trip. When I booked it I thought the guys would love it, but the 3 women would tolerate it. No, it was fantastic for all of us! So much fun! We were a family of 5 and I don't remember what that cost us, but it was not crazy expensive.
kewilli79, can't help you with Iceland but if it's fishing he wants and you ever have an interest in Eastern Europe that same $500 will buy a mountain river guide for two, all day, and pay for a nice hotel on the river and dinner ... and more.
When i lived in Texas it was less expensive to go fishing in Bosnia or Montenegro or Slovakia than it was to go to Colorado ... even counting airfare. Now, living here, it's a real bargain and the countries are beautiful and green.
Thank you both! I’ll check out kayaking/fishing and maybe look to eastern Europe for future vacations.
