Duty Free Liquor

I have heard that one should buy alcohol from the airport duty free upon arriving, but in my experience you only go through duty free when you are leaving a place. Can you really buy bottles when you arrive there? The airport website wasn't very helpful to me. Also, I've heard that Costco liquor is only available to commercial accounts and not individuals. Looking for confirmation on that as well. Thanks so much.

Some countries, like Iceland, allow duty free on arrival. Keep in mind that you are limited to your duty free allowance.

The only place you can buy beverages with more than 2.25 % alcohol in Iceland is at Vínbúðin.

Yes, the duty free store at KEF is right there next to where baggage claim is. This is where most people buy their alcohol since the prices are the best.

I have heard the same thing about Costco, but when we have been in there, we have never looked for it, so I don't know first hand.

Does anyone know the limit for purchasing at the airport? There will be 4 adults.

Gail—I don’t know if there is a limit. On one trip our camper van shuttle had another couple in the shuttle with us that had at least 6-8 cases of beer. Everyone got a good laugh over that!
