Hello - Going to Iceland for the first time in Mid October for four days and was wondering if it would be best to drive or take tours? I've done a lot of reading and the unpredictability of the weather has me on the fence. I would prefer to do more and spend less but would rather spend more for the sake of safety. Any and all recommendations welcome and appreciated. Thank you in advance. Also, I'd appreciate car rental and/or tour company recommendations. Again, thank you

It just depends. Two of our trips were mid to late October and both times we had great weather. We were lucky though as it can be anything at that time. Do you have good winter driving experience? That is the biggest factor. Tours are great though and you can sit back and relax. I really like www.troll.is for these.
