Domestic restrictions lifted and border restrictions reduced.

Gravepine.is article

They have not had any domestic cases of Coronavirus in a week. All Icelanders will be completely vaccinated next month. For those of you traveling to Iceland that like to learn about local current events, this is a great online news source.

Woohoo! That is great news. Thanks for sharing this source - we will check it out further before our trip in August.

I’m hoping that as the days go by and tourists don’t bring a New wave into countries, that this will be the news all over. Praying this will be the case, not just for my reasons of wanting to travel, but for the health and safety of all people. Get vaccinated, please, if you haven’t already.

I agree with you Barbara. Iceland has done an exemplary job of protecting their citizens as well as doing what they can to protect their economy. It looks as though vaccination is the key to keeping people healthy. Over 90% of Icelanders eligible for a vaccine have received one. They are behaving like they are on the same team. This makes me envious.

Just a heads up for late June 2021 arrivals. We arrived on 23 June 2021 and were tested at 7:29 a.m. local time. We were NEVER notified of our results. That meant we were effectively in quarantine for 24 hours since Icelandic sources indicated that if you don’t get a result in 24 hours, you can assume your result was negative and you are then released from quarantine at that time. And I can tell you that for one, Sunna Guesthouse takes quarantine protocol very seriously. July 1, 2021 can’t come fast enough.

Ozark, boy I would have been anxious and irritated over that. I think that with more travelers, the lab and the alert system is getting overwhelmed. I would still go even if I lost the first day entirely, but I'm glad....

By blind luck, my flight lands early morning on July 1.

Oh, for sure we were anxious and irritated. My wife saw them throw the vials in full boxes and doubts they were even tested.

Ozarks, I have heard of test results never coming in but in those cases, people just messaged the chat feature on the covid.is site and they usually got their results a few minutes later. I also heard people who never received the text but got their results through the ranking c19 app.
