Diamond Beach - Worth the extra 5 hours

Thanks in advance... you have all been so helpful.

Is it worth adding Diamond Beach to a South Coast tour? It adds 5 hours on. Before I decide to ride 5 hours in a van, want to ensure that it's actually worth the visit?? Ideally, would like to combine Diamond Beach with a South Coast tour.

Experiences? Good tours? This will likely be the only trip to Iceland.

Thanks,
Jenny :-)

So you are planning a tour of the South Coast, but it will take an extra 2-1/2 hours to get to Diamond Beach and back? Where does that South Coast tour go? Will you also be visiting Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon?

The problem with saying if the Diamond Beach is "worth it", is that there's no guarantee that you will see any diamonds, or maybe just a few. It all depends on what the icebergs are doing and how many pieces may be washed up on shore. When we visited it was spectacular.

I wouldn't add 5 hours to see Diamond Beach, BUT, I would add 5 hours to do a Jokulsarlong Glacier boat tour and they are right next to each other.

Yes, I should have clarified. I didn't word the post well. It adds 2.5 hours to the South Coast tour :-) and with Jökulsárlón.

It was on our itinerary but I felt no connection in terms of awesome visuals. We had seen so much of Iceland’s beauty already that it was a big letdown. It’s definitely unusual and somewhat picturesque.

Edit: …nothing like the pictures online.

I would do it. You Neve know what "diamonds" you will find, but one time we were there they were absolutely stunning and so many of them! We self drove, so can't help with tours for that. Although, we have used Troll.is for some excursions along the south coast and they have been wonderful.
