Day trip to Jokulsarlon worth it?

Hello,

Thanks to your help here is itinerary for our trip next week of 3 adults and a 1 year old.

3 nights Selfoss
5 nights Reyjkavik

We were thinking of knocking off a day in Reyjkavik and going from Selfoss to the glaciers on the south east side for a day. It would be a lot of driving so perhaps we would stay a night between Svinafellsjokull and Vik.

We would have liked to keep our lodging to 2 locations but we are considering if a day out in the southeast coast is worth it.
Thanks!

If you can find lodging along the south coast, then yes, do that. Just the drive alone from Selfoss to Jokulsarlon will be at a minimum 4.5 hours, without any stops. So if you can take even 2 nights away from Reykjavik and stay a night along the way and another night on the way back, you will see so much more! The tricky part is going to be finding lodging at this last minute. Iceland just isn't a place to try and stay in one place and then venture out from there. It its best seen moving around, even though I understand how that cane tiring especially with a baby.
